Introduction to Josefina

My doll is Josefina Montoya from Mexico, circa 1824. All American Girl Dolls have a story and come from an historical era.  Josefina (although my Spanish friend is always called Josie so maybe I will go with that) lived with her widowed father and two sisters in a Rancho. She also lived with her aunt and grandparents and the various family members spent their time cooking, weaving, farming, the girls being taught by their aunt and celebrating the various seasons. It is probable that in 1824, Josefina was called Josie anyway.........
Here is Josefina in the dress which I finished a couple of days ago.  It is my favourite so far....

I smocked the bodice with genuine antique rayon/silk thread and the trim around her pantaloons is also vintage, dating from 1950s. Here is a link to the dress on eBay at the moment.
